In marketing, your strategies would not always work and that’s okay!

What’s not okay is holding on to the identity of one not successful marketing strategy.

I remember when I was marketing a FREE event, yet people weren’t registering.

I prayed and consciously started asking for feedback from others trying to market the event.

People were scared of registering because it was new and they had trust issues..

If trust was a factor, the best way to reach them is through word of mouth marketing.

I searched through my contact list for people who would have access to my target audience.

Pitched the event to them, sold it as a great offer, I was able to get their attention and they gave me the details of people who would love to attend.

I didn’t have to cajole them because someone they trusted was the one bringing it to them…

Along the line, we inculcated FOMO (fear of missing out).

Marketing the limited number of seats left…

Getting people attending,to post about it and it worked.

We got people who even partnered with us to sponsor the event and we were SOLD OUT!

We didn’t stop because we understood that it’s one thing to get people to register, it’s another to get them interested enough to call.

So we were heavy on content marketing.

Our page had contents, we designed content and sent to our plugs who helped with word of mouth marketing.

The telesales team kept calling weekly, we sent fun, relatable emails. We paid for really micro influencers under N10,000 to reshare.

Just to heighten the excitement of the people!

On the event day, we had people come an hour or two before time. Over 120 people register, 90-100 came and 40 came before time.

Our goal was brand recognition and authority. My God! We hit our target.

People followed us, engaged, respected the brand and it was easier to pitch other things to them.

We made sure the event was everything, we promised it would be!

Moral lesson: sometimes the issue isn’t the strategy or bad product but wrong platform (implementation).

This is why you don’t implement and go to sleep. You should monitor, so you can make prompt changes when needed.

PS: prayer is an underrated marketing strategy but the absolute best! Prayer has saved me everytime and keeps saving me.

PPS: Event marketing isn’t for the weak 😂
